Welcome to my portfolios of paintings
Having spent 30 years as an award winning Sculptor and Jeweler. I think it is from those years of working with the conceptual thought process of creating 3D work, and being inspired by the physical-space of sculpture that has formed the way that I see when I paint.
I simply love to paint. And, it's hard to describe... but when I paint, I think like a sculptor. Creating the illusion of 3 dimensions on a 2 dimensional space, my imagination runs wild. I walk around, I look inside, and notice what's around the corner. I am fascinated by the way the surface of an object can disappear - just by the way it is painted. This is something I always enjoyed evoking in sculpture and jewelry. By using reflection and texture of an actual physical surface, you can create an "indescribable feel" in art.
There is something that happens "in between that moment of inspiration - and the moment where my creation begins". I am often nervous about being able to repeat "the magic" in my paintings, and I am so incredibly in heaven when it happens once again. In painting "IT" happens so much faster than with sculpture or metalworking.
Once the creativity flows.... and I am painting .... it feels like I am flying free.
